IN THIS FESTIVAL OUR BLOODS MINGLED BE by Ivan Lacko

This is for everyone who made the KAA Festival such a wonderful event. Let festivals like these be there forever.

The cold

is bone-cracking

the curtain creased

and folded

the scolded are now teased

yet pleased and certain

that their stories will be face-smacking

and proudly told.

The space

is soul-stroking

the eyes bright

and keen

the scene is set alight

the right to rise

to the occasion that is just mind-soaking –

– a state of grace.

The brides

are eye-catching

their accents thick

and heavy

a bevy of bonza chicks

the kicks of intent

that fabricate the joys of love-matching

and turn the tides.

The squares

are rook-shaking

the knight is pure

and white

the site’s demure

it sure is right

to sacrifice the queen – it’s heart-breaking

and no one cares.

The sheep

is wool-kicking

the manger’s filled

and bursting

our thirsting

for art, for danger

infuses with a new verve for wound-licking –

– this blood runs deep.
