Film Festival Alert

Are you hungry for some cinematic pleasure? How about spending a couple of cold November evenings warm and snug watching quality movies at the International Film Festival?

If you have no plans for the days following 9th November, write IFF in your Schedule. The International Film Festival Bratislava celebrates its 14th birthday and you need to get a piece of the birthday cake.

To be honest, I am not much of a film fan. However, a program introducing the top young directors from all over the world, promising an enlarged “Made in Slovakia“ section, while presenting a selection of the best European movies, seems like something worth paying a visit. The festival will screen an award-winning film of the renowned Venice International Film Festival. Its director, the South Korean Kim Ki-duk, plays on the Christian symbolism and human sexuality to scrutinize a relationship between a cruel man and a woman who is claiming to be his mother. You can also take a deeper look into independent films and innovative approaches in the non-competition section “Cutting Edge”. Sounds definitely like an refreshing break from morphology and Jane Austen, so choose a film and get your tickets!

For those fast enough IFF offers a student festival pass for less than 10 euro, so hurry up kids! The clock’s ticking and you only got time till 2nd November.
