Brace Yourselves...Mobility Is Coming!
Couldn‘t get to the first class of the new academic year on time because of a traffic jam?
Spent hours looking for a parking space and then scratched your car getting in the tight spot?
Have been coughing because of high smog levels and air pollution?
Not this week! The city of Bratislava and Dopravný podnik Bratislava are contributing to the European Mobility Week with various events from September 16 to September 22.
The highlight is that public transportation is free of charge for any holder of a valid driver’s licence this week. Extra vehicles will be employed on the most frequented routes to avoid overcrowded and unpleasant commute. There is also a discussion platform about issues like car pooling, bike rental and sharing, or streetcar routes, every day at 6 p.m. at Námestie SNP.
If you missed Sunday’s electro-mobile test drive at Eurovea Shopping Centre or historical vehicles in the Old Town, you might have checked out the Mayor testing the new routes with passengers on Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. Or joined the big race “Bike vs. Car” from Krašňany to the City Centre on Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. Be extra-careful on Friday because all parking lots become public space during the big “Parking Day”.
The Mobility Week finishes on Saturday with the Open Day of Dopravný podnik Bratislava (10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Vozovňa Trnávka - Jurajov dvor), which will climax with a Gladiator concert at 2 p.m., and the Grand Opening of the new cycling bridge Devínska Nová Ves – Schlosshof.
